About Food, Beverages and Recipes – from the land of wonders – India

India is a land of wonders, no doubt, one bit on that – and so it is also a land of huge diversity – reflected through the varied cultures, languages, dialects, food, beverages and cuisines, to name just a few. MeraSangeet, in yet another attempt to bridge the gap, tries to bring these delicacies, right from the kitchens back home – some saved in our memories, some through our own skills, some shared by our dear listeners who hail from different parts of India.

Conversation – with Kanchan Pant – on her film, Dear Latika – screening at NYIFF 2024

A journalist, a writer, a director, an entrepreneur, and a dreamer- Kanchan embarked on her professional journey as a journalist with NDTV in the year 2006. Transitioning into the realm of writing in early 2012.

With one feature film, one short film, over 300 stories, 2 published books, and a documentary series on her name, Kanchan has carved her own niche. She has been the creative head of India’s most popular storytelling show ‘Yaadon ka Idiot Box’ (Big FM), Kahani Express (Saavn), and Quisson ka Kona (Red FM). Through her dedicated work on audio-based content, she has created numerous award-winning shows and campaigns.

In her capacity as a mentor, Kanchan has nurtured the talents of over a hundred writers, both collectively for projects like ‘Yaadon ka Idiot Box,’ Spotify, and Big FM, as well as on an individual basis. In a pivotal shift in 2021, Kanchan’s trajectory took a leap as she ventured into film writing and directing, with a film she had penned. Titled ‘Dear Latika,’ which premiered in MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2023. Dear Latika was selected as ‘NFDC Recommends’ at the prestigious NFDC Film Bazaar in 2022 and will be screened in the Thrissur International Film Festival, and Imagine India Madrid Film Festival this year. In addition to ‘Dear Latika,’ she has also written a short film titled ‘Shikayat,’ available for viewing on Disney+ Hotstar.

From our Archives – conversation with Indian singer, actor and television presenter, Shaan

Shantanu Mukherjee, known as Shaan, is an Indian singer, actor and television presenter. In 2002, he won the MTV Asia Award for Favorite Artist India for best solo album for his album Tanha Dil.

Apart from studio albums, Shaan also sang several other albums songs such as Channel Hits, Bollywood Sensation 2, Club Class, A Reason To Smile, The Ultimate Party Album, among many others. He collaborated with international singers as well. After working with blue for the song “One Love” and singing the theme song (“Shuruaat”) for the movie The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Shaan collaborated with Michael Learns to Rock for his album Tishnagi. From our Archives – In conversation with one of India’s finest actors, Priya Gill

Priya Gill is an Indian actress, model and beauty pageant titleholder. She won the title of Femina Miss India International 1995 and represented India at Miss International 1995. She appeared mainly in Hindi films, along with a film each in Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil, Bhojpuri and movies in Telugu. She is best known for her role in the films Sirf Tum and Josh.

Priya began her Bollywood career with the ABCL production Tere Mere Sapne (1996) along with Arshad Warsi and Chandrachur Singh. Other film appearances include the hit films Sirf Tum (1999), Josh (2000) and Red (2002). She also appeared in some Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Punjabi films. Courtesy https://merasangeet.com/

Rohit Bhambi, is the President of Boston Bhangra, and the Founder of South Asian Showdown.

Rohit talks to us about the up coming event – the 15th South Asian Showdown. The concept of Showdown is to put the best Fusion, and Bollywood/Hindi-Film teams up against one another and let the judges have the unenviable task of selecting the best team of the night. Fusion is a combination of any dance style set to a majority of Indian music.  Bollywood/Hindi-Film style of dance is based on the Bollywood film style of dance featuring expression, theme and storyline.

Abhijeet Sawant is an Indian singer, actor, anchor and the winner of first season of Indian Idol.He was the first runner up of Jo Jeeta Wohi Super Star and finished third in Asian Idol.
