Celebrating India’s Independence Day with our Listeners

As we celebrate India’s Independence day, as we look back at the History of our times, as we take pride in the unity in diversity of our vast land, and as we try to uphold the very Idea of India, uphold the honor, integrity of our nation divided by language, culture, religion, customs, physical terrain -yet bound by an invisible bond-we ask ourselves that one very simple question–What does it mean to be an Indian…
To me being Indian is the very essence of my life-being Indian is upholding my values, my traditions, and above all the integrity of my country-India.
And this very simple question evokes some wonderful responses from our very dear listeners.
So, we are joined by Nalini Mani, a Strategy Consultant based out of Washington DC, by Sushma Sri, a Scientist with the US Govt and by Himanshi based out of Vermont…
Do tune-in for sure and do listen in to the beautiful response of what “Being Indian ” means to them-the Hindi radio Show is Chat and Chai today, August 14, at at 8:00 AM, 3:00 PM, 7:00 PM and 11:00 PM EST.

From the Archives : Maj Gen Gurdeep Singh Sohi (Retd)

Now this interview takes me back to 2009 if I remember correctly…and found it very apt at this point when we near our motherland’s, India’s Independence Day…
As we breathe in the fresh air, as we move around in a free world, as we aspire to fulfill our dreams, let us take some time to ponder and to thank the great freedom fighters, our soldiers back home who for our tomorrow gave their today..
Talking to Maj Gen Gurdeep Singh Sohi (Retd) was a journey back to the time of Independence, to the days of the wars India fought in the later decades and to the present where we need to figure out a solution so that we live in peace..
Do tune in for this conversation taken in from our archives for you- Chat and Chai, our Hindi Radio Show,Tuesday August 11 at at 8:00 AM, 3:00 PM, 7:00 PM and 11:00 PM EST

From The Archives : Farooq Sheikh, the great Indian Actor

This is one of those conversations which I hold very close to my heart… Farooq Sheikh Sahaab, the great Indian Actor…so simple and easy to talk to, no airs about him. I remember calling up a day before the interview and a sweet voice answer on the other end-she was his better half, Rupa. I introduced myself and she gave me a time for the next day -and there I was talking with him at exactly the appointed time.
As the conversation unfolded, he took me down memory lane…talked about his films, his co-stars. A very endearing person…that is how he will come across when you go back in time with me and listen-in to the conversation.

Farooq Sheikh Sahaab is no longer with us but he will continue to live on in our hearts, inspire us and  entertain us  through his contribution to Indian Cinema.

Do tune-in then for sure, This Friday, Aug 7, on our Hindi Radio Show, Chat and Chai at 8:00 AM, 3:00 PM, 7:00 PM and 11:00 PM EST
