This conversation is brought to you from our archives in association with India’s leading Hindi entertainment channels Star Plus and Life OK – It was one of those monsoon evenings if I remember it right, a few years back, when I called the great ghazal king,Jagjit Singh Sahaab…he was driving through the heavy traffic of Mumbai and said I could interview him there and then…but what with so much noise in the background, we decided that the peaceful atmosphere at home would be a much better place …
In the next hour,with the slight pittar patter of the rain in Mumbai at the backdrop, I was talking to the great legend, someone who has been a part of almost every Indian household, someone who is, nay, was credited of bringing the ghazals to the masses..in a more simpler language…in their own language..
Today, the heart does feel heavy as I wish I could turn back the clock, ask the heavens to bestow him with a few more years…because he still had to give the society so much…
But life takes its own course, and today as we are at the threshold of yet another death anniversary of Jagjit Singh Sahaab, we bring to you this conversation taken a few years back but a conversation which will take you down to his childhood, his college days, his first movie song, and so much more…

While Imran Khan does talk about the movie “Katti Batti”, his co-star Kangana Ranaut and the film’s Director, Nikhil Advani and his fav songs from the movie, he gives us glimpses from his own life which he shares with his beautiful wife,Avantika…He does draw comparisons between the daily routine of his life and the film in such a beautiful manner that all you do is agree to each bit .
A peep into the film he gives and just as I thought he was giving away the climax, he stops short and asks all of us to watch the film which he had a terrific time in being a part of …
